For Sale Vintage/Antique Wooden Clark & Anchor Haberdashery Sewing Cabinet. This is a 7 drawer cabinet from the early 20th century- probably from the 1930's-1940's- it was originally intended that the sectioned drawers would hold reels of Clark & Anchor cotton in a haberdashery shop. The cabinet is, I believe, made of beech.
The drawer handles are metal. At the base of the cabinet on the inside it is marked- 4808 and Gaskell & Chambers?
See photo- presumably the makers of the cabinet. I obtained the cabinet in the 1980's from Pritchard's Sports Shop in Coventry- they had stored football scarves, laces etc in it. Originally it no doubt would have been used to store cotton.
The cabinet is in a good condition for it's age- there are various scuffs, marks, small paint spots, drawing pins and drawing pin holes (particularly on the side), small areas where stickers were once (on side), also small areas where the outer wood veneer is slightly stripped off- see photos. The 7 drawers are all present, all 7 having the metal handles, 6 have the original glass in them (the bottom drawer in the photos does not). Six of the drawers are divided, as originally, into 7 columns and the other drawer has just a single divider. Some of the drawers have wooden cross dividers, some of which have small sections missing-see photos.
